MoveEz, Inc. (Headquarters: Kanazawa City, Japan; hereinafter “MoveEz”), an AI robotics startup boasting world-class technology and a proven track record in autonomous driving, announced today that Eric Wei (Wei Chia-Hung) has been appointed as Representative Director and CEO, effective November 21, 2025. Wei has invested in MoveEz and will assume the role of Co-Founder and Representative Director & CEO. Concurrently, Naoki Suganuma has transitioned to the role of Co-founder and Representative Director/CTO.
Founded in May 2024 as a startup originating from Kanazawa University, MoveEz aims to realize fully autonomous robot taxis with the vision of “liberating mobility for everyone and creating a society without transportation gaps.” While the company was recently incorporated, its foundation lies in 27 years of research and development led by Kanazawa University since 1998, a time when the field was still in its infancy. The team began testing on public roads in 2015, ahead of the industry curve. To date, MoveEz has achieved a cumulative autonomous driving distance of 90,000 km and transported over 2,000 passengers, holding numerous patents in the field. Successful demonstration experiments have been conducted across Japan, including Tokyo, Hokkaido, and Chiba Prefecture.
Under the mission “Beyond the human,” MoveEz develops proprietary technologies characterized by:
- Mapless Technology: The system constructs maps autonomously while driving, eliminating the need to purchase expensive high-definition 3D maps, which has been a major barrier to autonomous driving adoption.
- All-Weather Capability: Utilizing millimeter-wave radar as a base—rather than relying solely on cameras or LiDAR—MoveEz employs proprietary noise removal technology and AI-based correlation distribution for matching map and sensor data. This allows for stable autonomous driving even in severe weather conditions, such as heavy snow, aiming to realize all-weather autonomous operations.
Eric Wei, the newly appointed Co-founder and Representative Director/CEO, is originally from Taiwan and brings approximately 20 years of experience at global tech giants including Amazon, Google, DiDi, and foodpanda. His career spans the US, Europe, and Asia, where he has led new business incubation, product development, and operations. Wei possesses extensive expertise in cross-border business growth, multilingual negotiations, revenue expansion, customer satisfaction improvement, fundraising, and large-scale strategic partnerships. He also has a proven track record as an entrepreneur, having founded a venture that developed AI technology to reproduce Knowledge Graphs based on tacit knowledge, under the theme of “unleashing knowledge through AI to co-create the future with people.”
As CEO, Wei will leverage his deep insights into the global tech industry to strengthen MoveEz’s global competitiveness. His focus will be on recruiting and training top-tier AI and advanced technology talent, accelerating the business transition from manned to unmanned autonomous driving, and driving further corporate value growth.
Eric Wei Representative Director and CEO
My encounter with MoveEz was made possible by the enthusiasm of Ms. Takeda, our Lead Investor and Outside Director. Immediately after returning from an overseas business trip, I headed directly to Kanazawa to meet with Dr. Suganuma and Dr. Yoneda. Meeting these outstanding engineers, my mind was made up. I was struck by the depth of over 20 years of research and their attitude—humble yet possessing absolute confidence in their technology. I felt a strong impulse to change the world with Japanese technology alongside this team, spending sleepless nights immersed in business conceptualization. I am deeply honored to join MoveEz, a team with such pioneering technology and potential.
My dedication to autonomous driving stems from a formative experience at age five, when I hovered between life and death due to a traffic accident. For me, safe mobility is a heartfelt wish. I believe that establishing autonomous driving technology free from human error is the only solution to reducing the sorrow caused by traffic accidents globally.

Biography: Born in Taiwan in 1978. He arrived in Japan in 2005 and joined Amazon Japan, where he engaged in supply chain optimization for the Japan-China market and the launch of Kindle. He then moved to Google Japan, leading merchandising for the entertainment business of Google Play APAC. In 2017, he joined DiDi Mobility Japan as a founding member, contributing to the expansion of its mobility business in Japan. Subsequently, at Delivery Hero Japan, he led the launch of foodpanda’s food delivery service, driving the Japanese market expansion of global enterprises. In 2021, he founded Dimes. He developed “timelyhero.com,” an education and skill-sharing platform utilizing AI real-time translation, dedicating himself to creating learning opportunities that transcend language and cultural barriers. He holds a master’s degree from National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan.
Naoki Suganuma, Ph.D. Co-founder and Representative Director/CTO

Biography: Born in 1975. He received his Ph.D. in Engineering from Kanazawa University in 2002. After serving as a JSPS Research Fellow (PD), he joined the Faculty of Engineering at Kanazawa University as an Assistant Professor in the same year. Currently, he serves as Vice Director of the Advanced Mobility Research Institute, a university-wide organization at Kanazawa University established in 2021. He began research on autonomous vehicles at Kanazawa University in 1998 and, in 2015, initiated Japan’s first public road testing by a university. In 2024, he co-founded MoveEz, Inc. with Dr. Yoneda to drive the development and commercialization of robot taxis.
I am honored to welcome Mr. Wei as Representative Director and CEO. Since our establishment in May 2024, MoveEz has received tremendous support from academia, the business world, and government agencies. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Takashi Wada, President of Kanazawa University, for his advice on our founding, and to Ms. Mizuho Takeda, our Outside Director and CSO at Vision Incubate, for her support across management and business development. Thanks to this support, we achieved innovative growth in just 1.5 years, including successful demonstration experiments in Makuhari, Chiba, and Kamishihoro Town, Hokkaido.
However, to accelerate commercialization in the promising field of robot taxis, professional management expertise is essential. Mr. Wei is a professional in management and business development with a proven track record across numerous fields, and he is well-versed in the taxi industry and autonomous driving. With his expertise combined with the technical knowledge of myself and Dr. Yoneda, we aim to achieve early commercialization of robot taxis and proceed with global expansion with speed.
Mizuho Takeda, Ph.D. Outside Director / Lead Investor

I had a fateful encounter with Eric three years ago. At that time, he was founding his own company, and I was impressed by his passion for business management and his high level of skill. I had always hoped to work with him someday. I am truly delighted to invite Eric to MoveEz, a company I have supported as a lead investor through Vision Incubate since its founding. I believe that with the participation of Eric, a ‘high-speed tough negotiator’ with wonderful experience and networks that will accelerate our growth, MoveEz will become a startup that changes the world of mobility.
