MoveEz Inc. (Headquarters: Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture; Representative Director and CEO: Eric Wei; hereinafter “MoveEz”), an AI robotics startup boasting world-class technology and a proven track record in autonomous driving, announced today that it will conduct a field test in the Tokyo Waterfront Area in collaboration with Kanazawa University and other partners.
■ Background and Purpose of the Field Test
MoveEz is a Kanazawa University-originated startup founded in May 2024 with the mission to “liberate mobility for everyone and create a society without transportation gaps” through the realization of fully autonomous robot taxis. MoveEz’s foundation lies in 28 years of research and development conducted at Kanazawa University since 1998, the dawn of this field. The company began testing on public roads in 2015, ahead of the industry, and currently holds a track record of over 40,000 kilometers driven and 2,000 passengers carried, along with numerous patents.
This field test is part of the AD-URBAN* initiative, which falls under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI)’s FY2023 “Demonstration and Support Project toward CASE Correspondence of Unmanned Autonomous Driving, etc. (Research on recognition technologies, etc. required for autonomous driving technologies [Levels 3 and 4]).” MoveEz will cooperate with Kanazawa University, which is commissioned by METI, to support the operational demonstration of Robo-taxis in the Tokyo Waterfront Area.
In this demonstration, MoveEz is specifically responsible for generating maps for autonomous driving and operating the robot taxis.
